The INHOPE Association together with the Slovenian organization Spletno Oko (from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana) was hosting the first Central European Regional Meeting in Bled, Slovenia, on 25-26 March 2010. The meeting, built on the theme “Sharing collaborative approaches in the fight against illegal and harmful online content”, brought together high-profile actors involved in online safety issues from across the regions.
The meeting was attended by stakeholders from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. Together they addressed the opportunities and challenges facing Hotlines and the Insafe Awareness Centres and Helplines in constant quest to meet the needs of the rapidly evolving environment of the digital world.
Representatives from international and national police forces, government, child protection agencies and industry explored and discussed both regional and global issues, strong in the belief that the multi-stakeholder approach is clearly the only way forward.
With more than 87 participants registered, the meeting came up with some new solutions to urgent issues and raised global interest in the internet safety and child protection sectors.
